BCAN supports Baltimore’s best up & coming artists & creative entrepreneurs of all disciplines and backgrounds city-wide. By promoting the economic empowerment of our city’s creative entrepreneurs, BCAN aims to foster a stronger, more equitable creative ecosystem and economy in Baltimore.

Perfectly Pitched has been providing educational workshops, pitching resources, and supportive practice sessions, helping each fellow to hone their overall business storytelling strategy & perfect their pitch in preparation for Showcase Day! We’ve been working with the fellows for the past several weeks, each and every one of whom are inspiring leaders in their own right. Chef Micknai Arefaine brings the fusion stylings of Ethiopian cuisine to Habesha Flavor! Arefaine began joyfully sharing food with friends and neighbors, preparing the simple Ethiopian dishes that are a part of her life. “People just loved the food and they wanted more of it. It was like something from my heart and it was very healing.” Everything served at Habesha Flavor is dairy free, gluten free, corn free, and nut free.

Mr. Irving Phillips, Sr. illustrated life in the Baltimore community, telling stories about people of celebrity and the joys and tribulations of the working class. His work includes tens of thousands of images, documenting the history of Baltimore, as well as the nation at-large. Founded by his son, Webster Phillips III, the I. Henry Photo Project focuses on identifying unknown people and places in Mr. Phillips work, in an effort to preserve the history & tell the stories of Baltimore.
